We must all work together... essentially becoming one voice... to help those creatures whom cannot speak. Taking even one small step towards stopping animal abuse is a significant step for all mankind. Their suffering will continue if compassionate people like you and I do not step in and help them. They need us all.

 

 

 

If you see cruelty or suspect an animal is being abused, please call and report it.   Locally please Report Any and All Animal Neglect and Abuse to the following agencies: 

 

• In the City of Memphis, call Memphis Animal Services at 901-362-5310

• In Shelby County, call Memphis Humane Society at 901-272-1753

• You may also call the Memphis Police Department at 901-545-2677 (They may refer the call to Memphis Animal Services).
   
• If you are outside the Memphis area, contact your local animal shelter and/or police department if you are unsure.

Annemarie Lucas of Animal Planet's Animal Precinct says, Learn to recognize animal cruelty.  Here are some signs and symptoms that we see in many of the cases we investigate:

• Wounds on the body.
• Extremely thin, starving animals.
• An owner striking or otherwise physically abusing an animal.
• Dogs who are repeatedly left alone without food and water, often chained up in a yard.
• Dogs who have been hit by cars--or are showing any of the signs listed above--and have not been taken to a veterinarian.
• Dogs who are kept outside without shelter in extreme weather conditions.
• Animals who cower in fear or act aggressively when approached by their owners.
